Section A

A.1 I've been accepted, now what?

We are thrilled to have you joining us for this internship experience. You'll be sent some materials and invitations to events to help you get prepared over the coming weeks - keep checking your inbox for those. Closer to your internship experience, you'll be sent everything you need to set up on the platform and be ready for your first day. For now, there's nothing specific to prepare.

A.2 How many other participants will there be?

We want to ensure that everyone who can demonstrate their passion for going into the sector gets a place on the experience - it's a tricky time for young people and their career, so it's brilliant to be able to offer this to all. Each stream is likely to have at least 2,500 participants. Last year, 75,000 students completed the experiences and gained significantly from the experience.

A.3 Can you tell me more about how each day will run?

Here's a full schedule of the experiences and some insights below on each day.

Day one will include a full day of upskilling sessions. You will be listening to world-renowned companies who are experts in the sector and get a comprehensive overview of the sector. Additionally, there will be Bright Network general skills sessions needed for when you enter the world of work. For some of the sessions, there may be an opportunity for Q&A via the chat, but please note we will have thousands of students and not all questions will be answered.

Day two will introduce you to the work sample. You’ll then have the opportunity to work individually as well as meet other participants via a 1:1 video call to discuss the work sample and network. You'll start the day, with sub-sector presentations and then select the work sample you want to complete from the two options. From 12:30-1:30pm, there will be Graduate Office Hours where you hear from graduates at our partner companies as well as Bright Network alumni.

The afternoon will allow you time to work individually as well as with other participants again and we will end the day with a Bright Network skills session.

Day three will allow you time in the morning to finish up your work sample. This will be followed by a Bright Network and employer led  session running through a good example of how to answer the work sample question. You will then use the 1:1 Networking functionality on Hopin to meet another participant, present your findings as well as provide feedback for the other person’s work. We will then have a Bright Network CV and sector advice session along with a close and congratulations.

A.4 Where can I find the specific schedule for the internship experience that I have been accepted onto?

The schedule will be emailed to you once applications close. Once you've registered for Hopin (our virtual platform for Internship Experience UK), the schedule can be found on the specific sector’s Hopin page or at the bottom of the Reception tab in Hopin. A digital programme will also be provided to you. For now, above has the general schedule across the three days.

A.5 What do I need to prepare before the experience?

There's nothing formal to prepare but we do recommend engaging with the pre-experience materials and events that we will email across to you. Having a good background knowledge does help. In the final few days before the experience starts, you'll be sent links to the platform and instructions for joining.

A.6 Can I connect with peers before the experience?

You'll be invited to our LinkedIn group with your peers via a link within your offer email - feel free to add comments to posts and connect with other participants there. Do remember it's a public platform, so do ensure you're staying safe at all times. We do receive many requests to join the LinkedIn group, so it may take 24 hours for you to be accepted.

A.7 How do I connect with other people before the experience?

You can connect with your fellow peers within our dedicated course LinkedIn groups. You'll be sent a link to the LinkedIn groups via your offer email. There may also be various groups across social media platforms based around the Internship Experience, where you can connect with other participants. These groups are not moderated or run by Bright Network. Bright Network is only creating LinkedIn groups for the experience. We do receive many requests to join the LinkedIn group, so it may take 24 hours for you to be accepted.

Section B

B.1 What is Hopin?

Hopin is the online events platform that we will be using to run Internship Experience UK.

B.2 How do I register for Hopin?

You'll be sent a link a few days before the start of your experience. This is a unique, personalised Hopin link to the same email you applied for Internship Experience UK with. You will need to click through to complete your Hopin registration - instructions will be sent to you.

B.3 I haven't received my Hopin link. What do I do?

If it's more than five days before your experience is due to start, don't worry - you'll receive your link shortly. If it's after 4pm on the Thursday before your experience - please double check your inbox and junk/spam folders for an email from no-reply@hopin.com, with the sender name 'Bright Network' and subject line 'Your ticket to Internship Experience UK'. You should have it.

If you still cannot find your registration link, please get in touch with your full name and the stream you are enquiring about. Please ensure you use the same email that you applied with for Internship Experience UK.

Section C

C.1 What browser should I use for the best experience?

We recommend attending Internship Experience UK through your laptop/PC on Chrome or Firefox. Please avoid Brave, Safari, and Microsoft IE or Edge. If you’re having trouble, please have a look at this troubleshooting guideand ensure your browser has been updated. You can check this here.

Hopin now has a mobile app that is now available on iOS and Android. You can download the Hopin app on Apple Store or Google Play.

Note: Hopin requires recent versions of Chrome or Firefox. Please note, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are not compatible with the Hopin platform.

C.2 What internet speed do I need?

We recommend a minimum of 5mbps download and 2mbps upload. Ideally, we like to see 30mbps download and 10mbps upload or higher for the best quality - test your speed here.

C.3 Is there any other tech that I will need?

For the 1:1 Networking sessions as well as the work sample review, you will need a microphone and a camera is optional. We would suggest headphones to reduce echo during 1:1 sessions. If you do not have a camera, we would highly recommend you partake in the On Demand version of Internship Experience UK as you may find it difficult to complete the programme successfully by reviewing another participant's work without the camera function.

Section D

D.1 What is the dress code?

There's no specific dress code for the experience and most of the time you won't be on camera. There are a number of networking sessions throughout the three days with both fellow Internship Experience UK participants - we would recommend business casual for the networking sessions.

D.2 Is there anything else I need to get before the experience?

Nothing specific. We would highly suggest a notepad and pen as there will be a wealth of information from world-class firms regarding the sector as well as general upskilling seminars from Bright Network.

D.3 What if I cannot attend all of the sessions?

In order to successfully complete this internship experience, you are required to attend and participate in the full programme of sessions. Completion of all the sessions and activities will enable you to receive your certificate of completion at the end of the internship experience. If you know you can't make some of the sessions, we encourage you to do the On Demand experience - no need to let us know, just apply to your stream of choice and we'll see that you're planning to do On Demand instead of the live experiences.

D.4 If I have accessibility requirements, what should I do?

We want to enable as many students as possible to complete this internship experience. If you have accessibility requirements, please get in touch with the Internship Experience UK team and they will be able to support you.

D.5 I'm in a different time zone to the UK - how does this work?

You can do the experience anywhere in the world, however there might be less favourable timings depending on what time zone you're in. The timings of the experience are in British Summer Time (BST) - we recommend Googling what times they will be in your country. The experiences run between 9am to 5pm (BST) on days one and two, then 9am to 2pm (BST) on day three.

D.6 What if I need support during the event?

You can get in touch before the experience. During the experience, there is a Helpdesk within the Hopin platform - you can ask questions in there at any time during the experience.

D.7 Can I join an Internship Experience UK Linkedin group?

Yes. You're more than welcome to join our Internship Experience UK LinkedIn groups. There is a group per course, where you can connect with fellow partiticpants. Just so you are aware, we do receive many requests from our members to join these groups, so your acceptance may take 24+ hours.

D.8 How do I join the LinkedIn group?

You can find our Internship Experience UK groups on Linkedin via a link we'll send you in your offer email. Alternatively, just search Bright Network's Internship Experience UK 2021 (course name) and it should appear.
