Created on 5 Jun 2017

Cindy recently secured an exciting Commercial Underwriting internship with AIG. She took the time out to catch up with Bright Network and share an insight into her application process.

What inspired you to choose a Commercial Underwriting internship with AIG?

As a multicultural and multilingual student, I have always been attracted into working for a large international company. After many hours of research and continuously seeking to gain experience I found interest in the insurance world. I chose this role as it requires good communication skills and also professionalism. I enjoy having responsibility and undertaking challenges. The role of Commercial Underwriting enables me to work in various projects alongside many different clients – something that has always sparked an enormous interest in me.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The toughest part of the application process was definitively the assessment day. You get introduced to other super smart, nice and outgoing students, who all fit the role you are applying to! Strangely, my favourite part was also meeting these students. They were all very friendly and inspired me to perform better on the day.

Were you surprised by anything in the application process?

Not really, luckily I planned quite well before each of the several application processes and AIG has been very clear with all its requirements.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

In any application process it’s really important to be proactive, be enthusiastic and to stay true to yourself.

What's your lucky charm or pre-interview ritual?

Putting the interview into perspective so it seems less scary!
