Andrea, whilst in his final year at Royal Holloway, has secured himself a graduate role at Bloomberg LP as a Financial Analyst. Previously completing both a Spring Week and Internship at Bloomberg LP, we were excited to catch up with Andrea about how he found the whole process.
Why did you choose this firm and this role?
I was fortunate to participate in the summer internship of Bloomberg LP in the Analytics and Sales division. I've always been attracted to financial markets specifically to Bloomberg Analytics for the opportunity to expand my knowledge and understanding of financial markets and various asset classes. The progression of the role into sales is also a potential match with my skill set and I am sure I will really much enjoy it.
What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?
The toughest part was definitely the length of the recruitment process. I have been interviewed more than 10 times by Bloomberg for my Spring and Summer Internships. It has been challenging but really rewarding once I received the offer for a full-time position after my summer internship. That was definitely my favourite part.
Were you surprised by anything in the process?
The cultural angle of the interviews. I was expecting way more technical questions compared to what I was asked. Bloomberg, by being the leader in Financial Market data industry, has a strong personnel that interviews new joiners on a daily basis. It was really surprising how the human and cultural match was increasingly researched into my persona as I moved on into the recruitment process.
What top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?
Apply early and don't let other applications' rejections let you down. You are unique in your own ways - just learn how to sell yourself better.
What's your lucky charm or pre-interview ritual?
Never sit in the waiting area before the interview - it will look better if you present yourself better once the recruiter arrive.
