Securing a graduate role with T. Rowe Price - Top tips from Greg

Created on 15 Oct 2019

Greg is an economics graduate from UCL. We had a chat about all things T. Rowe Price: application processes; the International Investments internship; and securing a graduate position. Here’s how he did it…

Why did you choose T. Rowe Price and the role in particular?

I’d always been interested in the Investment & Asset Management sector. T. Rowe Price are industry leaders and so they were my first choice. The culture is   also excellent. From Assessment Centre up until starting my graduate role, the entire team have been warm, welcoming and friendly.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

How many toothbrushes are there in Scotland?

What does a day in the life of a T. Rowe Price intern look like?

AM

First thing, I’d check the news. Current affairs can massively alter the movement of a stock and our company-wide meetings first thing revolve around what is going on in the world as a result.

Next up, I’d meet with the mentor assigned to me for the duration of the internship. You support their work and they help you to direct your research.

PM

At the beginning of the internship, we were given a very thorough induction in investment communication and excel. Later on in the programme, I was given side projects that I worked on during this time.

How did you convert your internship into a graduate role?

I was invited back to join T. Rowe Price as a permanent member of the team. I attribute my success to working hard, listening carefully to my mentor and constantly asking for feedback. I would seek feedback and advice from across the team which meant that I felt like a fully integrated member by the end of the internship.

What is the culture/working environment at T. Rowe Price like?

The working environment is super collaborative. The London office doesn’t work in isolation from the other global offices, so it’s truly international. My favourite thing about T. Rowe Price is the open-door policy. From the outset I’ve felt comfortable asking for support from everyone, including the senior team.

Congratulations, Greg! If you want to follow in his footsteps, you can find out about live roles at T. Rowe Price below.
