Securing a graduate logistics scheme with DHL - Top tips from Dagmara

Created on 23 Aug 2017

Dagmara is currently studying Law at the University of Birmingham, and has just been accepted onto a Graduate Logistics Scheme with DHL, which she found after visiting a Bright Network event. She took time out of studying to have a chat with us about the process.

Why did you choose a graduate logistics scheme with DHL?

I came to a Bright Network Event which set me thinking about my graduate options. DHL sparked my interest, and  I decided to apply online. I followed the online interview and found that the offer was perfect for my skills.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

I found it hard to make myself stand out when putting my skills on paper, but the video interview was very helpful. In this respect, I found the video interview to be my favourite part, as it allowed to me demonstrate my skills. I think the toughest part will always be the required tests that are to be found online before any interviews.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

I thought the assessment centre would be a bit daunting, and I didn't really expect a fun day ahead of me. Playing scrabble with my team was unexpected, but a great way of assessing everyone’s qualities.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

Give a chance to roles that you would not think are usually for you, prepare applications early and always try to stand out and really specify why you want to work there.

Any other thoughts about the application process?

Just keep confident. Even if it doesn’t work out the way you want, the experience that you gain throughout the interview will always be useful.
