Securing a graduate scheme with Centrica - Top tips from Amy

Created on 24 Jul 2017

Durham graduate Amy has recently secured a place on Centrica’s graduate scheme. We caught up with Amy to discuss the application process and her top tips for other Bright Network members.

What drew you to apply for Centrica?

I was drawn to Centrica because my degree background is Geography and I have always had an interest in the environment and energy issues.

What did the application process involve?

It was quite a long application process, but I felt very supported along the way. The process involved online psychometric tests, a telephone interview and an assessment centre with a group exercise. During the assessment centre, we also had a tour of the office and everyone was very friendly. It was also great that someone from the company called me to talk through what to expect from the final interview and overall I felt like they really wanted me to succeed.

What would be your top tips for members looking to follow in your footsteps?

Make sure you research the company you are applying for - reading all of the information on their website is a great starting point. Focus on details like the values of the firm, as this will likely come up in your interview.

How has Bright Network helped?

As I progressed through my studies, it became apparent how much being a Bright Network member would help me with my career search. The Bright Network website was particularly great because I could easily search for opportunities that were of interest to me.
