Securing a graduate role with Sky - Top tips from Faisal

Created on 9 Feb 2018

Set to graduate this year with a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Warwick, Faisal has done fantastically to secure a place on the Finance Graduate Programme at Sky.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

It was a great reputable firm, which provided services to millions of people across the country. This meant I could work on projects benefitting the country as a whole. I chose the Finance scheme as it is something which I would enjoy and excel in.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The toughest part was the case study part of the application. There was a large amount of data to analyse in a short period of time, then I had to present my views and offer suggestions, followed up by a lot of difficult questions. My favourite part was the campus tour led by Sky's graduates. Not only did I get to see the numerous activities going on at Sky, but I also got to talk to people who were in my position a year ago.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

The friendliness of all everyone at Sky, and the atmosphere as a whole.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

1. Know why you want that specific role and where you would fit.
2. Try to make sure you say everything as clearly as possible, as what you want to say may not be what you actually get across.
3. Prepare a lot, not just a quick google search. Know the company, its recent projects or product launches, along any other activities the company has been involved in.
