A huge well done, KPMG is a fantastic company and Hugo has been so kind as to share his story.
What made you apply to KPMG?
When broadly looking at consulting companies KPMG was clearly one of the biggest and I knew it would open up a lot of doors for me. It's one of the Big 4 and this is also something that attracted me to it. I researched the culture which also drew me to the company and how they work with clients.
What was the hardest part of the process?
The digital submission required me to record an audio submission to some pre-set questions. I found this quite challenging as it was difficult to convey your personality or come across natural when there is no interviewer to bounce off as there would be in a face to face interview.
What was the most enjoyable part of the assessment day?
I found the group exercise most enjoyable because of the communication aspect. I was able to speak to other people and it was a satisfying part of the process. It was also calming to speak to people during the day with the many tasks.
What tips would you give a member who wanted to apply for KPMG?
Firstly, get advice from others if you can and don't be afraid to pick their brains.
Secondly, its all a learning curve. This was my second application to the scheme and the more you do the more you learn. The more you do the more relaxed you are and you can only do your best at the end of the day.
Lastly, apply early. You don't realise how fast they are going to fill up, when assessment centres are full you could have made the cut but not been in there early enough.
