Securing a graduate internship with Lazard - Top tips from Hassan

Created on 1 Mar 2019

What was the hardest part of the application process for you?

The hardest part of the application I felt was the Assessment Centre which involved a group task, presentation, and psychometric testing.

How was the process overall, and what was your favourite part?

I enjoyed the process overall, everyone at the firm was very friendly and the process progressed at a nice pace with me being kept in the loop at all stages. The interviewers took a real interest in me and wanted to find out about me as opposed to just seeing if I could do the role which was a nice change. My favourite part of the process was the personality screening at the start as I felt it was quite different to what the other Investment Banks were doing and it was interesting to see how my personality was mapped and the results.

Top 3 tips?

1) Be persistent

2) Very cliche but make sure you are relaxed and be yourself, some firms put more of an emphasis on fit over technical knowledge - Lazard was definitively one of these firms

3) Be honest in interviews and put your hands up when you don't know an answer as opposed to trying to blag it
