Securing a Spring week with J. P. Morgan - Top tips from Sarah

Created on 5 Jun 2017

Sarah just had her application accepted for the Spring into Technology Week with J. P. Morgan. We asked her how she did it, and how she found the application process.

Why did you choose the Spring into Technology week with J. P. Morgan?

J.P. Morgan have provided a lot of opportunities at my university – St. Andrews - in the past and it is clear they are willing to put a lot into their graduates. They offered an insightful and varied program on their Spring Week, which I heard about through a Bright Network email.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

There was a telephone interview with some challenging questions, which for me was probably the hardest part as obviously you couldn’t communicate any way other than verbal. The application process was also quite intimidating, but the questions asked gave me the opportunity to present my personality to the company, so I’d have to say that was my favourite part.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

Everyone was really nice and not at all intimidating. It was clear that there was a really friendly, casual atmosphere as I received more communications from the firm, which surprised me for a big bank.

Do you have any advice to give your fellow Bright Network members?

Be yourself in your application, and in particular make sure everything on your CV is correct and up to date because they will ask you about things on it.
