Graduate insight into securing an internship with Sky

Created on 26 Apr 2018

A huge congratulations to Keri Morgan on securing a financial internship with Sky! She found out about the opportunity via a Bright Network Email update. here she sheds some light on the application process at Sky as well as offering some advice to future applicants.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

I’m not sure what area of finance I want to go into or what kind of firm. After being rejected from some big finance firms I decided to try something a little different. I know no day at the Sky office will ever be the same and the amazing, kind people I meet at my assessment centre confirmed that this was a company I could see myself at.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

The telephone interview was probably the most challenging. I find it difficult to get myself and personality across well over the phone and I had failed at this point many times in the past. But I managed to get through! Which leads into my favourite part, the assessment centre. While this was also challenging the day was laid out very well and was laid back which helped me relax. The questions in both the interview and other tasks were stimulating and got me excited about being able to actually carry out similar tasks as an employee at Sky. I also got to meet some lovely people, both employees and fellow candidates.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

How chilled out the company is. The whole day was so well planned it hardly felt planned, everyone had the time in the world for you which made me feel part of the company already. The company buildings were also super cool, The architecture and art was stunning.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

  1. Try and be over enthusiastic on a telephone interview to ensure the interviewer knows you’re interesed.
  2. Know your CV inside out.
  3. Relax, the right opportunity will come to you.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

What is one thing Sky currently aren’t doing which you think they should pursue?
