After hearing about the role through Bright Network, Mike successfully applied for a graduate role in strategy at Fujitsu. Mike was kind enough to answer some our questions about his experience of the whole process.
Why did you choose this firm and this role?
Originally I went for a sales role and got pulled aside to interview for the strategy role. I decided to go with the strategy role due to the valuable experience it provided and its ability to allow me to gain further insight into the tech industry.
What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?
The toughest part was the video interviews as without someone on the other side of the screen it was incredibly hard to gauge whether it was going well or not. The most enjoyable part for me was a self presentation without the use of PowerPoint, to combat this I created a video which played behind me as I spoke highlighting my reasons for applying and my relevant experience.
Were you surprised by anything in the process?
I was surprised by the lack of individual tasks at the assessment centre, it was a lot more team based than I was expecting which worked well seeing how people cooperated with each other in a competitive environment.
What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?
My tops tips would be to keep calm, prepare as much as possible and try not to overthink it.
