Why did you apply to Deloitte?

I saw Deloitte’s job post on Bright Network so decided to check out their website and apply. Whenever I thought of the professional services Deloitte was always the first firm that came to mind.

What was the toughest part of the application process?

The toughest part of the process for me was the job simulation because the questions are in different formats; written responses, video responses and multiple choice which I’ve never experienced before. So it was challenging keeping up.

What's your advice for anyone applying?

To anyone applying I would say commercial awareness is very important. At the assessment centre I had to give a presentation surrounding tax to a partner who then asked me numerous questions regarding the economy, tax and what Brexit meant for professional services firms. I would also advise applicants to focus on the Deloitte’s key competencies and find examples of where you’ve demonstrated them as they base the interview questions off of them.

Some of the questions they asked me:

- What do you think your day to day will consist of?

- How do you manage time and juggle prorities?

- Has there ever been a time you have worked with a difficult person in a team and how did you deal with that?

I’d also say for the commercial awareness questions, if there’s something you don’t know or don’t understand don’t be afraid to tell the partner and ask them to explain it to you
