Securing an Operations Management role with Rolls-Royce - Top tips from Samuel

Created on 31 Jul 2017

After studying Engineering at the University of Warwick, Samuel will be starting a graduate role with Rolls-Royce in September as an Operations Management Graduate Development Trainee. We caught up with Samuel to hear about his experience and to get his top tips for other Bright Network members.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

I chose Rolls-Royce because it is a fantastic company with a good reputation and great opportunities for the future.

What was the toughest part of the application process and what was your favourite part?

The assessment centre consisted of lots of different activities throughout the day and, although it was difficult, it was actually a really good experience. The online tests were also a challenge, but they are very important to do well on in order to get to the next stage. After that, the process is more personal, and involved a review of your application and several interviews.

What three top tips would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

  1. Do lots of research about the company and its products.
  2. Highlight your key strengths and unique experiences.
  3. Try to enjoy the assessment centre - it is a good experience!

What's your lucky charm or pre-interview ritual?

I always make sure that I research the company’s history, products and the current state of the markets.
