Graduate insight into securing a Summer internship with UBS

Created on 4 Jul 2019

We caught up with Agnes just before she started her fantastic summer internship with UBS to discover how she secured her role. Here she shares her top tips and why UBS was the perfect fit for her!

Why did you choose UBS?

Their culture was what really attracted me. I found that UBS' behaviours and values really aligned with my own - Collaboration, Challenge and Integrity - and seemed like the right fit for me.

How did you prepare for the application?

I had just finished a spring week at Morgan Stanley so I was already in the frame of mind to write an application. I really made sure I researched UBS and knew it inside out. Through that, I also made sure to really highlight my interest in the sector too.

How did Bright Network help you in your journey?

Attending events was really helpful for me, I went to Festival with a couple of friends and spoke to someone at Morgan Stanley and managed to secure an spring insight week there before UBS. This really got me thinking about internships and my career.

What are your three top tips for other Bright Network members?

  1. Take time with all of your applications and always make sure that you tailor to each company - really explain why you want to do that role and why you want to work at that firm specifically
  2. Make sure you're applying to something you are interested in - firms will be able to tell!
  3. Use internships as an opportunity to explore your options and discover what you enjoy, or more importantly, what you don't enjoy
