Graduate insight into securing an industrial placement with Babcock International Group

Created on 24 Apr 2018

Huge congratulations to Verity on securing a role at Babcock International group. Here she gives us some useful insights for future applicants.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

I was looking for a specifically marine engineering placement. Babcock offers 3 rotations every 4 months so I'll get to really look at the business and the different roles I can go into when I graduate.

What was the toughest part of the application process? And your favourite part?

Time management in regards to doing the applications, tests, going all the way to Plymouth for the assessment centre and having to prepare a presentation for this.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

I was surprised when I was given an offer because I didn't feel like I performed that well. But they were very understanding about nerves and they looked at my strong CV and knew I was a good candidate so gave me the chance.

What top tip would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

When applying choose the top 5 companies that you want to go for and then really spend time on making your applications good and researching the companies and why you want to work for them.

What was the toughest question you faced at interview?

Tell me a time you have failed.
