Vivina’s insight into securing a Recruitment Consultant role with Org3D

Created on 9 Dec 2021

We recently got that chance to chat with Vivina about how she secured a Recruitment Consultant role with Org3D, how Bright Network helped her get the job and her top tips to members looking to follow in her footsteps.

What stood out to you about Org3D?

What stood out to me about Org3D was the innovation they brought into the field of recruitment by proactively contacting companies with the perfect candidates for their needs, instead of waiting for them to seek help in finding one. I was also attracted by the importance they give to the employees’ well-being and the support they offer to make sure that everybody is working towards their personal goals. For me, the most important aspect to consider when accepting a job was surrounding myself with like-minded, ambitious people, and I feel like I hit the jackpot by joining Org3D.

How did you build your commercial awareness before the interview?

My strategy to prepare for phone and in-person interviews included: thoroughly researching information about Org3D on social media platforms, reading reviews from past and current employees on Glassdoor, checking out each employee’s LinkedIn profile and taking notes of their interests, and listening to podcasts featuring the company’s CEO and employees. These techniques allowed me to get an in-depth understanding of the qualities they were looking for in candidates, and it helped me gain an overall idea of what challenges recruiters have to face daily

What would be your top tip to members going through the application process?

My top tip is to show energy and confidence from the first interaction with the company, be it a quick phone call, an email, or a video interview. Make notes of what you research about the company before the application process, highlight the keywords and phrases that stand out in the job description or in social media posts, memorise them, and talk to yourself out loud as if you were in the middle of the final interview.

How did Bright Network help you secure this role?

Participating in Internship Experience UK had a massive impact on my approach to applying for graduate roles. Showing that experience on my CV made me stand out because I could prove to employers that I was proactively working on self-development by getting involved in fields that I had never encountered at university (notably business, marketing, and operations). I made the most of the internship by applying the tips learned during webinars, and that gave me the confidence to apply for the role as a Recruitment Consultant at Org3D even though I had no previous experience in the field.

What’s been the toughest interview question you've faced and how did you tackle it?

The toughest question I have been asked has been “What is your greatest weakness?”. I found it challenging because I did not want to mess it up and I was not sure what weakness I could mention that would not show me in a bad light, so I selected one that can either be seen as a positive or a negative trait depending on the context. I explained that I tend to be very organised in my tasks and I like following a clear plan instead of improvising. That is an honest answer, and it is not necessarily a weakness for the role I applied to.

What top three tips would you give Bright Network members looking to follow in your footsteps?

  1. Say "yes" to every chance you get to try something new: you could discover a new passion or find out what you don't like at all.
  2. Before applying to a job, research feedback left by past employees: that will give you an idea of what you could struggle with if you join.
  3. You don't need to fit 100% of the job requirements to apply. Aim at a 70% match: that's how you know you'll learn something new.
