Sian explains why she started her career in FMCG

Role -  RD&A Manager

I originally applied to the graduate scheme because it seemed like a great opportunity to work for a large, well known FMCG and a great route into the food industry. As it was a graduate scheme it was a good stepping stone from university into the world of work. It offered a role with real responsibility and exposure but with the support and guidance of the graduate scheme.

My time on the graduate scheme was a great learning curve as I went from studying Biochemistry at university to working in a fast-paced manufacturing site. However being on the graduate scheme meant I had a great support network of other graduate colleagues in the same position.

I remember the graduate assessment centre being in Dublin and being fairly rigourous, including a presentation, competency questions and group work. In terms of preparation, I made sure I had researched the company including the values, products, and technologies. I also ensured I had completed competency question preparation and examples.

I was based in Shillelagh and it was a supportive, almost family like culture.
