Whatever your passion, management accountancy is a fantastic way to work in the sectors and industries that excite you. You could find yourself using your CIMA Qualification to make a difference to people’s lives. Or it could be your way into the fashion world. It could even be your ticket to the UK’s biggest sporting events.

From the public sector to charities to media companies, there are loads of ways you can put your CGMA designation to use. And with management accountants playing such an integral role in any company, you’ll be sure to make a difference – whatever you want that to look like.

Here are 13 surprising organisations that actively look for CGMA holders and train their people with CIMA.

Charities

Want to use your accounting and business skills to help save lives? Charities The Red Cross and Wellcome Trust both employ Chartered Global Management Accountants. We caught up with the Wellcome Trust to find out more about working in their finance team and what their graduate programme involves. Watch the video here.

Fashion

Management accounting may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of online fashion giants Boohoo and ASOS, but these hugely successful businesses need financial professionals to help them stay ahead of the curve.

Public sector

If using your finance and business acumen to shape public services sounds up your street, take a look at the Ministry of Defence, Home Office and NHS. These public sector employers all actively look for CGMA holders. They also support their teams through the CIMA Professional Qualification, including as part of the CIMA Apprenticeship programme.

Sports clubs

Combining professional skills with your passion for sport may seem like a dream come true, but at Liverpool Football Club and the European Professional Golf Association, it could be your reality. Both organisations like their finance team to be CIMA-qualified.

Media

Working in the world of TV, film and media will never fail to impress your friends and relatives. And word has it that it can be pretty fun, too. ITV, Sky and Virgin Media all look to CIMA for their management accountants, from apprentice level and beyond.
