Meet Nirvan Moloye from Mauritius. He’s an account manager for French-speaking Switzerland and Monaco at Bloomberg.

In French-speaking territories, Bloomberg manages a diversified client base ranging from private banks, asset managers, government agencies to investment banks. Our French speaking employees pride themselves in understanding our French clients’ specific concerns, and tailored regional strategy to provide the best experience.

Here, Nirvan shares what he loves about living in London, how he uses his language skills at work, and what sets the Bloomberg culture apart.

What do you like the most about your job? And how would you define the impact you have day to day?

What I like the most about this work is the people and the relationships. I cover all our customers in French-speaking Switzerland, so we’re a relationship team and also a sales team. I really enjoy being with customers “on site”, fostering a more personal relationship with them and learning about their businesses and concerns. So there is an incredible network to be had in the company itself, but also an external network with our customers and we can really learn a lot from both.

How do you use your language skills at work?

I speak four languages fluently – Creole being the first, since I’m of Mauritian origin. So I use the French language with my clients, covering French territories. I also use my languages with my colleagues who are Francophones.

I also speak Hindi so I also have a connection with colleagues who are of Indian origin. It’s great to be able to “practice” with everyone around the office.

How does it feel to bring your culture and your language into your work?

Being able to use my native languages to add value to the company and our customers makes my job so much easier. Whether it’s geopolitics or a cultural event, using my languages and connecting on a cultural level makes work much more pleasant. It also helps me meet other people and make friends, or even have deeper relationships.

How would you define the impact you have in your work here?

Bloomberg has really allowed me to use my skills and passions to develop my career and have a fairly advanced development.

I started as an analyst. Then, I was promoted to head of the senior commodities analysts, and now I cover the region in French-speaking Switzerland and Monaco. So there’s a real emphasis on people’s talent and passions.

What do you like about living in London?

Definitely the people. Everyone is really welcoming. There’s a really great culture, it’s such a cosmopolitan city. And of course, it’s accessible from everywhere.

What was your relocation process like? How did Bloomberg help you establish yourself here?

Bloomberg helped me to relocate. I was supported with the transition to London, including finding housing and also all the legal requirements to be able to work in London and be able to settle eventually with my residence permit.

What new opportunities has moving to London brought?

Bloomberg has really opened doors so that I can establish myself in London. Since I have a working visa, I have the opportunity to have a residence permit, so there’s really an element of stability where I see myself being here for longer. And it’s this stability that even gives me the confidence to start a family here in London.

Bloomberg is really at the heart of the financial markets and this is really represented in our location. We are in the center of the City, in the heart of London, with all the institutions that are around us.
