The Internship program at CooperSurgical provides university students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, Interns are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and employees.

The Human Resources (HR) Intern plays a key role in supporting the effective running of day-to-day HR. The role spans a variety of responsibilities, including efficient administration support, first line queries for the business, project support and coordination and effective system support.

Job summary

The HR Intern position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in human resources while supporting our HR department in various administrative tasks and projects, duties such as updates to the HR system, coordinating with the business on benefits, policy queries, supporting on HR activities.

The role demands a high degree of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Essential functions & accountabilities

  • Support the onboarding process for new hires, including collation of new hire paperwork, conducting onboarding sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives in line with the HR calendar.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including areas such as personnel files, ensuring compliance with policy and process, providing system support and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Assist with updating and revising HR policies and procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure HR initiatives align with company goals and objectives.
  • Support with reporting and analysis such as absence, time management, ED&I
  • Update management on office-related developments and improvements.

About you

Qualifications

 Currently enrolled in a relevant program in Human Resources, or related field.

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in human resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior internship experience in HR or related field is a plus, but not required.

Experience

  • No previous experience in office management or facilities management is needed, though it will be advantageous.
