Josh | Life as a Content Creator at Quadmark

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

Josh is a Content Creator on the Global Google Account. Find out more about him and his thoughts on Quadmark below.

What has been the single most important thing you learned so far in your job?

Plan your day properly, because lots of people can depend on the work you're creating. If someone is booked to QC your doc and you're starting it last thing in the day, it can upset the entire project timeline. So check what you have on, and make sure you prioritise tasks accordingly.

What would a ‘normal’ day look like for someone in your role?

  1. Plan for the day (set alarms for meetings, check Asana tasks)
  2. Check emails and chat
  3. Usually a short meeting in the morning to discuss ongoing projects.
  4. Jump into tasks
  5. Lunch!
  6. Continue tasks
  7. Fill in my timesheet and clock off.

What is the culture like?

It's like working with your mates. Everyone gets along. There are so many teams working together on one project that even though you're working from home, you're still speaking to people a lot. There's none of the office politics I've seen in other companies I've worked in. Just a bunch of people who want to do a good job. We still get together fairly regularly.

How important is diversity/inclusion/accessibility to you and what is Quadmark doing in this space?

It's super important. I feel like Quadmark is the best company I've worked for when it comes to DE&I. Communities are encouraged. People's stories are shared. We had a consultant work with the company and provide some great training on things like privilege and being an ally. The recruitment process has also been more diversified and allowances are made for various disabilities. Things seem good! Although I'm speaking from the POV of a cis white male, so I think others may have a more valuable opinion on this.

Any tips for anyone who’d like to apply for a role at Quadmark?

Be authentic. Everyone here is open and friendly. Bravado and traditional office politics have no place here.

Your background

I have a BSc in Biology from the University of Manchester. Which is entirely irrelevant to this job. Other than the usual data analysis and critical thinking skills.

My work experience is more relevant for someone working on content for a retail technology company.

  • 4 years working in a phone shop.
  • 4 years working as a field trainer for Samsung.
  • 2 years working as an events trainer for Samsung.
  • 2 years working as a training content writer for Samsung.
  • 1 year working as a training content manager for Samsung.

What made you apply to QM?

I'd met some of their people before and experienced some of their training. It was the best I'd ever had. I was also super interested in working on Google content.
