Liz | Life as Head of Customer Operations at Quadmark

Book open Reading time: 3 mins

I attended college at the University of California, Davis where I received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Shortly after, I held various project management positions in the food manufacturing industry working with mozzarella cheese, smoothies, and most recently wine & spirits.

I managed projects that focused on continuous improvement initiatives and new construction. During my time earning my black belt in Lean Six Sigma, I discovered my passion for technology, training, gamification, and team engagement. This prompted me to make the jump from the wine industry to Quadmark. However, wine is still and always will be one of my favorite things.

What has been the single most important thing you learnt so far in your job?

The most important thing I have learned so far at Quadmark is the importance of communication. In a world that is moving more and more towards digital and virtual environments, communication is a skill that is crucial in the workplace. Poor communication is the number one reason why projects go off track, mistakes are made, and feelings get hurt. Working at Quadmark has stretched and improved my communication skills through virtual strategy planning, virtual meetings, collaborating through Google docs and emails, and project planning via digital platforms. I am grateful to work with a team that values the importance of communication.

What is the culture like?

The culture is the number one reason why I love working at Quadmark. I have never worked for a company that cares so much about the wellbeing of their people and actively looks for new ways to make Quadmark an amazing place to work. Initiatives like Wellbeing Wednesday, monthly company-wide story competitions, and team trips are just a few examples of how much the company cares about a good culture. Even during COVID, Quadmark still made it a priority to throw virtual parties with magicians, comedians, and other fun activities to make sure we all still had fun and felt like a team. This was especially important for me since I am a member of the US team and will always work remotely.

What made you apply to QM?

I initially found out about Quadmark when I saw a LinkedIn post from one of my best friends from high school. After looking into the position details and reconnecting with my friend I found out how great this company was that I had never heard of. Even though Quadmark might be less known, I was very impressed with the type of projects they work on and the clients they work with. I had originally been in the wine industry and wanted to diversify myself by getting into the tech industry. I ended up applying to Quadmark because of their foundation in the tech industry and the opportunity to work directly with other distinguished companies in that field. Another reason I applied was for their remote work structure. Quadmark offers the flexibility of working from home while also having the opportunity to work with people from around the world and also travel from time to time for team collaboration.
