Nadja - Technology Graduate

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

We know that applying for graduate schemes can be stressful, which is why we made our application process as simple as possible. Nadja, a Technology Graduate, told us how she found the application process and offered a few tips to make it easier for you.

What made you want to work for Liberty Global?

When searching for graduate jobs, my biggest concern was ending up in a role where I felt pigeonholed with little flexibility and room to explore. I knew I wanted to work in Technology, but I also wanted opportunities to explore different functions and working environments. Talking to people at Liberty Global, I quickly saw that they valued this too - encouraging their people to continually learn and supporting their curiosity. In line with this, the rotational structure of the Technology Graduate Scheme meant that I could gain a variety of experiences, and the large scale and international presence of Liberty Global allowed for a wealth of opportunities.

Tell us how you found the application process

I had experienced similar application processes while applying for other internship and graduate schemes at large companies, so I felt very comfortable overall. Because I tend to get very nervous during pre-recorded video interviews, getting past that step was a relief! The Early Careers Team were also extremely prompt in communicating the outcomes of each stage, which eased a lot of nerves.

Do you have any tips for someone applying to the Technology Graduate scheme this year?

Don’t be put off if you don’t have the ‘standard’ experience or background for the role you are applying for! Being excited and ready to learn and cooperate is the most important thing.

Though I think this applies to most roles, I think in Technology it’s extremely important to be proactive in how you approach things that are unfamiliar to you. Being inquisitive and willing to seek information out yourself is an important skill to have, not least because the space moves so quickly which means there will always be something new to learn. Of course, there will always be someone there to help in the case of any big roadblocks.

Along with this, learning to be comfortable with not knowing something is very valuable! Try to see lack of knowledge as an opportunity rather than a shortcoming.

How do you align with Liberty Global’s values?

I think they do an excellent job of summarising the principles of the company and the way people interact on a day-to-day basis. My favourite value is ‘limitless’ and it’s one I truly see around me at the company. Everyone I have interacted with has been extremely helpful and very encouraging when I have expressed wanting to take on something new and challenging.

Our Technology Graduate scheme is open for applications right now. If you want to follow in Nadja’s footsteps, make sure you submit your application soon.
