Why I chose DCC | Molly's story

My key responsibilities include updating the KPI report daily and attending regular team meetings. I have also had the opportunity to visit Flogas sites across the UK including Swansea and Bristol. This has given me a real insight to how Flogas works from extracting gas to supplying to customers.

[I chose DCC due to the] opportunity to work across different divisions (LPG, Retail & Oil, Healthcare and Technology) and the opportunity to work at an international level with two placements in two different countries was very appealing to me. Additionally, DCC invests heavily in their graduates through regular training and focuses on your personal development.

Life at DCC has been amazing so far. Having been introduced to colleagues across all levels of the company and making new friends with all the graduates, my network is really expanding.

The main thing that stands out about DCC is the level of support you receive from day one. From your Graduate Buddy to your Graduate Business Contact, there is always someone to answer your questions and help you along the way.

I thoroughly enjoy getting to know Flogas from a logistics perspective as day being different and I enjoy the challenge of trying to work out how best to utilise our resources to meet the needs of the customer.

In the future I will continue to learn valuable skills and knowledge within logistics and hope to apply these in my second placement with DCC and beyond.

The application process was tough but very fair. Although the assessment centre was virtual this year, DCC made all applicants feel welcome with a talk from the CEO Donal Murphy and the opportunity to talk to current graduates before the assessment centre. This definitely put me at ease.

During the induction week we received training in professionalism in and out of the workplace, productivity and personal development.  I have also carried out tanker driver technical training with Flogas expanding my knowledge on the process of extracting and supplying gas.

The most important thing is to be yourself as DCC are looking for candidates that truly match their competencies. It is also important to show your true entrepreneurial flare and your ability to be innovative. Additionally, expand your commercial awareness so you can take advantage of opportunities that will benefit your company in the long run.
