Diversity and Inclusion at: Ofcom

Book open Reading time: 2 mins

Ofcom is a forward-thinking, inclusive employer and recognises the value of diversity to truly “make communications work for everyone”. Here at Ofcom, our vision is to ensure people are part of an environment when they can truly strive and be themselves, therefore we aim to recruit from the widest pool of candidates possible – irrespective of social background, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or disability. We are an organisation that strives to be truly representative of the whole of the UK and our aim is to be an employer of choice for everyone.

We champion flexible working and so wherever possible we support flexible working patterns including job shares.

We have several networks at Ofcom supporting colleagues and diversity. The networks are open to all colleagues who may wish to be a part of them. Colleagues from across Ofcom act as sponsors and champions.

  • Affinity Network- supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender colleagues and allies.
  • Faith Network - for colleagues from all faiths and religions.
  • Ofcom Women’s Network - aims to achieve gender equality at Ofcom.
  • Parents and Carers Network - supporting our parents and carers within Ofcom.
  • RACE - representing all colleagues at Ofcom, but in particular, those from a Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) background.
  • SOUND -  for neurodiverse colleagues, disabled colleagues, colleagues with a long term-health condition and their allies.

In addition to our networks we also have the following support groups:

  • Listening Network for colleagues who need a non-judgemental chat. We all get a bit low and major life events happen, sometimes all you need is a friendly ear to talk to.
  • Colleague Forum - the Ofcom Colleague Forum (OCF) is a group of elected colleagues, who meet with senior management on a regular basis, to communicate and consult on and about issues affecting colleagues at Ofcom.
