Tell us about what your role as a Sports Product Manager at Betfair requires

It requires enthusiasm, an interest in sport, betting, and an interest in new technologies

What advice would you give someone who’s looking to work for Betfair?

I’d emphasise how important it is to know the product – understand what Betfair do, how it looks, get a feel for the company and actually be a customer yourself. Also, I’d emphasise that enthusiasm and ideas count.

Can you tell us one thing you wish you’d known when starting out?

It would have been very useful to have more knowledge of the wider betting industry and the key strengths and weaknesses of Betfair’s major competitors.

What can you tell us about a typical day at Betfair?

I get straight into working on the project at hand and tackling any problems first thing. I work with stakeholders and with marketing and commercial teams to get decisions made. I also deal with customer complaints and deploy new features to the website.

In a nutshell, can you list 5 reasons why you decided to work at Betfair?

  1. I had a strong interest in sports
  2. This company operates with the use of cutting edge technology. It’s modern and it’s disruptive
  3. The graduate scheme itself really appealed to me. It gave me the option to move around, spending three months in different departments
  4. The flexibility of the role was a big feature
  5. I was enamoured by the culture – the people were friendly and collegiate
