Society of the Year Awards 2019 KIIPS - Their Experience

Bright Network’s Society of the Year Awards were an unparalleled opportunity for KIIPS to share its journey and achievements thus far and to meet other fantastic student societies from across the UK. KIIPS is thrilled to have won the Innovation Award sponsored by Reed Smith.

Our video creation was unique – we chose not to conduct interviews as we wanted to highlight KIIPS’ achievements not as individuals, but as an organisation – our committee, our members, and our loyal attendees all contributed to our success. Our focus was to galvanise our brand and raise awareness of what we do, through our iconic light-blue colour. The minimalist-futuristic video encapsulates who we are, and what we do perfectly. It outlines what makes us different, and why we deserved to win for #Innovation. It not only draws attention to the importance of technology and law as individual disciplines, but the space where KIIPS fits in, at their intersection.

The voting process was nerve-racking, to say the least. The race was saturated with many outstanding societies, but what we believe got us through was KIIPS’ people focus. We pride ourselves in having strong rooted connections across many universities, a wide network within King’s College London, and a loyal member base. In preparing for the award, excitement was shared, and nerves were tested. However, we knew that as a team, we could rely on each other throughout the exhilarating experience. We were proud to highlight how KIIPS shares a similar mission to Bright Network, and grateful to hear we reminded James Uffindell of just how far the Bright Network team has come.

The awards lunch brought together many motivated and driven individuals, all of whom are dedicated to improving their societies. It was a great experience meeting all of them, sharing ideas and a great opportunity to network. Good food, better company, and a step towards our goal, we could not have asked for anything more! KIIPS extends its gratitude to the hardworking team at Bright Network who put this together: we hope to come back each year as we expand our reach across the UK, and beyond.
