About CIMA

We’re CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. We’re proud to be the largest and most influential body of management accountants in the world. As part of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), we’re home to over 650,000 students and members spread across 179 countries and territories around the globe.

You’ll find CIMA members in all kinds of organisations: big and small, public and private. There’s no one industry or role that management accountants work in. In fact, 225,000 organisations worldwide employ someone with the CIMA Qualification.

Our size and global reach means we’re able to lead the way in defining the future of the finance and accounting profession. And we make sure our students and members are involved every step of the way, equipped with the latest knowledge and skills needed to future-proof their careers and the organisations they work for.

Our qualifications are current, innovative and lead to Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) status, the only globally recognised designation for management accountants. Those four letters speak volumes about your skills and know-how and can boost your earning potential, too: CIMA students earn an average £32,000, rising to £66,000 once qualified.

Anyone can study with CIMA to become a CGMA, whatever your degree discipline. But if you have a related degree in Accounting, Finance or Management, you might be eligible for exemptions. So you could bypass some exams and get CGMA status faster than you think.

You can even begin your journey to CGMA while you’re still at university. Look for a CIMA incorporated degree programme — a fantastic opportunity to give your career a head start and graduate with dual honours.

Or you could do a course that’s part of the CIMA registered student programme. You’ll be signed up as a CIMA student as part of your degree and get help finding an employer who will support you through your CIMA Qualification. We work with companies across every sector who help their employees’ CIMA studies, including Accenture, the NHS, UK Government, Sky, Coca-Cola, and HSBC (to name just a few).
