The opportunity

Our Accountancy Pathway is about more than balancing the books. You'll use financial insight to help shape decisions, solve business challenges and support the long-term success of one of the UK's leading insurers.

At Aviva, finance plays a key role in everything we do. You'll work with colleagues from across the business, helping them understand performance, plan for the future and make informed decisions that deliver for our customers. Whether you're analysing trends, supporting major projects or providing insight that influences strategy, you'll see how finance helps drive real business impact.

You don't need to have studied Accountancy, Finance or a numerical subject to join us. If you're curious, enjoy solving problems, can think critically and want to understand how a large business operates, this could be the pathway for you.

Whatever path you choose, you'll work on live projects, learn from experienced colleagues and help deliver even better experiences for millions of customers.

“Aviva’s ACA programme appealed to me because it provides a structured pathway to becoming a Chartered Accountant, while offering broad experience across a leading FTSE 100 organisation. I was drawn to the combination of professional development, varied rotations and a supportive graduate network.”

The role

Our Accountancy roles are based in Norwich and York. You may need to be flexible on location and willing to relocate if needed. We believe some of the best collaboration, learning, and relationship building happens when people come together in-person. That's why our colleagues spend around 50% or more of their working time in the office. We call this Smart Working. For most colleagues, that means spending around three days a week in the office and the rest working from home, although this varies by role and team.

Over three years, you'll rotate through different Finance teams, including Financial Reporting & Controls, Business Partnering, Tax and Investments.

Alongside your day-to-day role, you'll work towards your ACA qualification, building the technical expertise and commercial experience you need to become a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.

We'll support you throughout your studies with tuition, learning materials, study leave, professional membership and exam fees, helping you balance your qualification with hands-on experience in the business.

As you pass your exams, we'll increase your pay to recognise your progress. And once you qualify, you'll be earning a market-leading salary.

The company

We help millions of customers across the UK, Ireland and Canada protect what matters most to them and plan for their future. Whether it's supporting someone after an accident, helping families feel financially secure, or finding better ways to prepare for tomorrow, our work has a real impact on people's lives.

But we're not just here to solve today's challenges. We’re also investing in technology, data and AI to transform the way we work and deliver even better experiences for our customers.

For you, that means the opportunity to be part of a business that's constantly evolving, bringing fresh ideas to life and making a real difference to millions of people every day.

The Early Careers Development Programme

From day one, you'll become part of a community of graduates and apprentices from across the business.  During your first two years with us, alongside your day job, you'll take part in our Early Careers Development Programme.

Designed to complement your on-the-job learning, it combines structured development, networking and hands-on experiences to help you broaden your perspective and connect with people from across the business.

You'll learn alongside other graduates and apprentices, gain exposure to senior leaders and develop a broader understanding of the business.
