Technology and Change Delivery Year in Industry Pathway
Locations: York
Duration: 12 months Fixed term – 29th June 2027 – 23rd June 2028
Work type: Hybrid
Salary: £27,750
The opportunity
Technology and change go hand in hand at Aviva. They help us adapt, innovate and deliver better experiences for our customers and colleagues. If you're curious about the role technology plays in shaping the future of a business, this could be the perfect place to start your career.
On our 12-month placement, you'll gain hands-on experience, build valuable skills and see first-hand how technology helps solve problems, support colleagues and deliver change across a large organisation. Depending on your role, you could be helping improve services, supporting users, delivering projects or working with teams to turn ideas into action.
You don't need to be a technology expert or studying a technical degree. We're looking for curious minds, strong communicators and big-picture thinkers who enjoy solving problems and making things happen. In return, you'll get real responsibility, plenty of support and the opportunity to develop skills that could lead to a future graduate role with us in September 2029.
Whatever path you choose, you'll work on live projects, learn from experienced colleagues and help deliver even better experiences for millions of customers.
“When I started my placement, I had limited IT knowledge. I studied Economics with Finance at university and my A-Levels were in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. However, this was far from a hindrance. In fact, I was able to look at things with a different perspective. Aviva values that.”

The role
Our IT Service Desk Analyst Year In Industry roles are based in York. You may need to be flexible on location and willing to relocate if needed. We believe some of the best collaboration, learning, and relationship building happens when people come together in-person. That's why our colleagues spend around 50% or more of their working time in the office. We call this Smart Working. For most colleagues, that means spending around three days a week in the office and the rest working from home, although this varies by role and team.
IT Service Desk Analyst (York)- you'll be the first point of contact for colleagues who need technology support, helping them resolve issues and get back to what matters most. Through a mix of calls, live chat and self-service support, you'll learn how to troubleshoot a wide range of technology queries while delivering a great colleague experience.
You don't need previous technical experience. We'll provide the training, tools and support you need to build your knowledge and confidence. As your skills grow, you'll take on more complex challenges and develop expertise across our systems, applications and devices.
This role follows an eight-week rolling shift pattern, Monday to Friday, with shifts of 6am–2pm | 7am–3pm | 8am–4pm | 9am–5pm | 10am–6pm | 11am–7pm. Most weeks start at 8am or 9am, with one early-start week and one late-finish week in each cycle, giving you plenty of notice to plan ahead.
If you're a great communicator, enjoy helping others and are curious about technology, this could be the role for you.

But we're not just here to solve today's challenges. We’re also investing in technology, data and AI to transform the way we work and deliver even better experiences for our customers.
For you, that means the opportunity to be part of a business that's constantly evolving, bringing fresh ideas to life and making a real difference to millions of people every day.

You’ll be able to tell us if you need any additional support or reasonable adjustments during your online application.
Each stage of our application process is designed to bring out the best in you. Below is a step-by-step guide on what to expect for each pathway:
