Apply for our Future Prison Leaders Programme, and we’ll assess you for the senior management role we believe you could achieve. If you’re selected, we’ll support you to reach your potential.
Training, mentoring and support
It’s a competitive process, but if we select you, you’ll receive a combination of training, development, encouragement, operational experience and mentoring from senior leaders. Starting the programme as a prison officer, by the end of the programme we’ll give you the opportunity to step into a senior management role in the Prison Service.

Prisons can be demanding, challenging environments, so you’ll need to be ready to assess risk, make sound decisions and stay calm under pressure.
But if you can combine resilience with good judgement and have the drive to make a positive impact on society and the people you work with, we’ll give you all the support you’ll need to achieve your ambitions.
In addition to playing a vital role in the successful running of our prisons, you’ll support rehabilitation and help reduce reoffending. All while advancing your career in a workplace like no other.
