Honeywell is a Fortune 100 technology company that develops innovative solutions to some of the world’s most important challenges, including safety, security, sustainability, and energy efficiency.

Within Honeywell Building Technologies, we are shaping the future of connected commercial buildings through intelligent energy management and IoT-enabled solutions. We are looking for an enthusiastic Embedded Software Intern to join our engineering team in Horsham and contribute to the development of next-generation Building Energy Management System (BEMS) controllers.

As part of an Agile Scrum team, you will work alongside experienced software engineers and architects, gaining hands-on experience developing embedded software that powers real-world products. You’ll contribute to communication protocols, IoT connectivity, and control algorithms while learning industry best practices in software design and development.

We are particularly interested in students who demonstrate a genuine passion for technology through personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, maker activities, or other initiatives outside of their academic studies. We’re looking for someone who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to bring their own ideas and creativity to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance embedded software features for Honeywell’s Building Energy Management System controllers.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and test engineers within an Agile Scrum environment.
  • Contribute to software design and implementation using object-oriented programming principles.
  • Support the development of communication protocols, IoT connectivity solutions, and control algorithms.
  • Participate in testing, debugging, code reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Share ideas, take initiative, and contribute to technical discussions across the team.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Exposure to C++ is a plus; experience with Java, C#, or other object-oriented programming languages is also welcome.
  • Interest in embedded software development and real-world product engineering.
  • Evidence of personal projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or other extracurricular technical activities.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts; knowledge of embedded systems, UML, or IoT technologies would be advantageous.
  • Passion for technology, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to share ideas and take initiative in a collaborative team environment.
