    Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship

    Our Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and innovation.

As a Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you will implement technology solutions aligned to your pathway, to develop new products and services and increase productivity using digital technologies.     Data Analytics pathway

    Innovation starts life in numbers. Data dictates where we go next. You’ll tell us what it’s saying. But first, we need to make you fluent in this unique language. By the end of the programme, you’ll understand data structures, software development procedures and analytical tools we use.

    This pathway will expose you to key areas including Data Science & Machine Learning and Business Analytics & Visualisation, and you could find yourself working within Digital, Engineering Operations (EO) or Engineering Propulsion (EP). You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process.

    Digital - Gaydon

    At the heart of this highly entrepreneurial team, you will contribute to pioneering projects, solve complex commercial problems and influence every aspect of our business. Whether you’re addressing global programmes and organisational design or delivery costs and quality targets, your digital solutions will create real insight, enabling more effective decision-making.

    You’ll learn data structures and how to effectively use our analytical tools. You will also support the team in solving complex analytics problems, deploying solutions into the business and creating reusable data assets. You will learn how to work in an agile environment (Scrum methodology) and use industry-standard tools such as Jira. You will also learn about modern development methodologies and processes and help the team with user and business engagement and understanding and documenting requirements.

    In your third year, you will build your skills in problem structuring, data wrangling, modelling and visualisation, data science and analytical strategy skills before developing a key specialism in the fourth and final year (data science, data engineering, data analytics).

    Engineering Operations (EO) - Gaydon, Whitley with occassional travel to Ansty and Lyons Park

    EO are at the heart of JLR Engineering. Involved at every stage of the engineering process, they underpin technical innovation and product delivery with programme management, tools and processes and specialist technical services to deliver our world class products. A diverse team, Engineering Operations harness a variety of skill sets, from project management, information management and data analytics, to building and testing prototypes.

    You could find could yourself focusing on activities such as validating data measurements for testing, developing automation evaluation tools, correlating and validating data or identifying data quality improvements. You will develop skills such as agile project management, data quality tools and process development, data management, data presentation and data visualisation.

    Engineering Propulsion (EP) - Gaydon or Whitley

    Our Propulsion Engineering team are leaders in the design, test, validation and certification of world-class propulsion systems aimed at delivering driving experiences that our customers will love for life. The scope of our propulsion systems is far-reaching and includes major commodity groups such as electric drive units, energy storage devices, engines, transmissions and drivelines, complemented by software system integration, calibration and control strategies.

    You could find yourself validating data measurements, data curation including creation and maintenance, data quality management including monitoring, debugging and resolution, data visualisation and working with automated evaluation tools and software to improve data quality. You will develop your understanding of agile, data lifecycle management, data quality processes and tools and design and create technical presentations and reports.

    Your Education Provider

    As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions with the University of Warwick.

    During your apprenticeship, you will study a range of modules designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive as a technology professional. You’ll contribute to the business in your assigned role, as well as undertake additional study in your own time, to achieve your academic award. A network of apprentice tutors and line managers will regularly review your progress and offer advice along the way, to support you in performing at your best.

    Modules are taught in week-long blocks throughout the academic year by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), part of the University of Warwick. These will be a mix of lectures, practical laboratory assignments, seminars and tutorials delivered in person and online and you will also enjoy access to a virtual learning environment for further support.

    In the final year, you will undertake a work-based project which also forms part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). On successful completion of your EPA, you will achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career with JLR.

    What’s required?

    You will need to have achieved GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 (C) or higher plus three additional GCSEs at level 5 (C) or higher, to include one STEM (science, technology, engineering or maths) subject

    In addition, you will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve A-level Maths at grade B or higher and an additional A-level in Physics, Chemistry, Design & Technology, ICT, Computer Science, Economics or Engineering at grade C or higher.
