What is Actuarial at KPMG?

Insurance companies make important decisions every day about the risks they take, the products they offer and the promises they make to customers. Our Actuarial team helps them make those decisions with confidence.

Using data, statistical analysis and financial modelling, we help organisations understand uncertainty, manage risk and plan for the future. Our work spans workplace pensions, life insurance and large-scale business and personal insurance, helping clients make informed decisions that affect millions of people and businesses.

Actuarial Graduate Programme

You’ll work with experienced colleagues to analyse data, build models and turn complex information into useful insight. As well as developing technical actuarial skills, you’ll learn how to explain the commercial impact of your work clearly to clients and colleagues.

Depending on the team you join, you could work in Life Actuarial Services, advising insurers that provide workplace pensions, savings, life assurance and critical illness cover.

Or you could join General Insurance, supporting organisations that manage risks ranging from household and motor insurance to satellites, oil rigs and natural disasters. It’s a fast-moving area shaped by new products, changing regulation and evolving markets.

Training and benefits

On this programme, you’ll study towards the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) qualification through a Level 7 Apprenticeship route. This qualification is fully funded by KPMG and supported by an extensive programme of internal training spanning both personal and professional development.

We offer a competitive salary and a host of great benefits too, including 25 days’ holiday, study leave and a day off on your birthday. What’s more, you can take up to six days of time off to take part in volunteering initiatives.

Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in our offices or at the sites of the organisations we audit. We trust our people to be where they need to be, with our colleagues working together in person as often as needed.

Seeing the whole picture

As part of our wider Advisory practice, you’ll build friendships, learn from experienced colleagues and share the journey with other graduates starting their careers alongside you. KPMG is a place where you can be yourself and give your best - whoever you are and whatever your background.  We look at more than just your academic results and will also consider your strengths, values and motivations. If you’re collaborative and good with people, that can be just as important as your ability to pick up key technical skills. See the specific programme page on our Careers Portal for entry requirements and our ‘Applying to KPMG’ section for detailed application guidance.
