What is Japan Practice in Tax at KPMG?

Tax is changing quickly, shaped by new technology, increased regulation and greater expectations around transparency. It makes this a fast-moving, challenging and exciting area to begin your career.

Our specialist Japan Practice in Tax supports Japanese clients with their European operations, working closely with colleagues from across KPMG’s international network. If you’re interested in combining tax, international business and cross-cultural working, this could be the programme for you.

Japan Practice in Tax Graduate Programme

To join this programme, you’ll need Japanese language skills and an appreciation of Japanese corporate culture. These skills will help you build relationships with clients and colleagues across an international environment.

You’ll be based in London and involved in a wide range of work. You’ll help support the day-to-day running of the Japan Practice client portfolio, including personal tax compliance and tax advice services for international assignees. You’ll also work closely with teams across KPMG and colleagues throughout our global network. It’s a role that offers a unique mix of technical development, client exposure and international experience.

Training and benefits

On this programme, you’ll study towards the ACA professional qualification. This qualification is fully funded by KPMG and supported by an extensive programme of internal training spanning both personal and professional development.

We offer a competitive salary and a host of great benefits too, including 25 days’ holiday, study leave and a day off on your birthday. What’s more, you can take up to six days of time off to take part in volunteering initiatives.

Our firm’s hybrid working model balances the flexibility of working from home with the importance of collaborating and learning in our offices or at the sites of the organisations we audit. We trust our people to be where they need to be, with our colleagues working together in person as often as needed.

Seeing the whole picture

In our Japan Practice and as part of our wider Tax team, you will be building friendships and shared experiences, innovating, and learning together. KPMG is a place where you can be yourself and give your best - whoever you are and whatever your background.  We look at more than just your academic results and will also consider your strengths, values and motivations. If you’re collaborative and good with people, that can be just as important as your ability to pick up key technical skills. See the specific programme page on our Careers Portal for entry requirements and our ‘Applying to KPMG’ section for detailed application guidance.
