The role
We are seeking a versatile, hands-on Junior Aerospace Engineer to join our team in Havant. This is a highly varied role designed to give you a massive breadth of experience. You will not be siloed into one department; instead, you will rotate through and support multiple disciplines, building a world-class foundation for your engineering career.
One day to the next is never the same. You might find yourself:
- In a field: Assisting with exciting live flight testing and data collection.
- At the bench: Soldering components and helping the production team build next-gen hardware.
- In the logistics zone: Gathering, prepping, and packing complex equipment for an upcoming client demo.
- At a workstation: Collaborating on hardware design or, if you have the skillset, diving into software tweaks and testing.
Key responsibilities
- Production & Assembly: Assist in the physical build, assembly, and quality control of aerospace hardware (including soldering and mechanical assembly).
- Flight Operations Support: Participate in field trials, flight testing, and equipment setup, ensuring safety and compliance protocol is followed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bridge the gap between hardware and production, with the opportunity to touch software systems depending on your aptitude and interest.
- Demo & Event Prep: Own the logistics of preparing high-stakes technical demonstrations, ensuring all gear is accounted for, functional, and ready to impress.
- Documentation: Maintain clear logs of testing outcomes, build notes, and inventory updates.
Skills, knowledge and expertise
Required:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar hobbies/interests).
- The “Can-Do” Attitude: A genuine passion for aviation/aerospace, paired with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed.
- Adaptability: Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces variety.
- Hands-on Aptitude: Comfortable using tools, handling delicate electronics, or working outdoors in various weather conditions during tests.
- Communication: Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.
Bonus Points For:
- Basic soldering or electronics prototyping experience.
- Familiarity with coding or software engineering principles (C++, Python, embedded systems, etc.).
- A clean driving license (handy for getting out to those flight test fields!).
