Help Macquarie make informed decisions by managing the risks of today and anticipating the risks of tomorrow. As a graduate in our Risk Management Group, you’ll contribute to meaningful work across an independent risk function that provides objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring and reporting on Macquarie’s material risks. You’ll build your judgment, technical skills and commercial understanding as you turn complex information into clear insights that support the business. We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

As a graduate in the Risk Management Group, you’ll join Macquarie’s independent risk function and begin building the judgment, technical skills and commercial understanding to help teams identify, assess, monitor and manage material risks across a global financial services business. From the outset, you’ll take ownership of meaningful work, contribute to objective review and challenge, and develop your ability to turn complex information into clear insights and recommendations.

Depending on your placement, you may join one of the following areas:

  • Credit Risk monitors and manages risks arising from lending, financing and trading activities. You could analyse counterparties, financial statements, transaction structures and industry trends, support credit assessments and approvals, and monitor exposures and portfolio concentrations. You will also work closely with business stakeholders to understand complex transaction structures and associated risks. Opportunities are available in Dublin, Ireland.
  • Market Risk works directly with traders and business stakeholders to understand, measure and oversee risks across global financial and commodity markets. You could monitor exposures, review positions and strategies, apply quantitative risk measures and stress testing, and help establish risk limits for new products and activities.
  • Model Risk helps ensure the integrity of key financial models used across Macquarie. You could build mathematical models, challenge and assess model methodologies, conduct independent research and communicate findings with colleagues.

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • monitoring, analyzing and explaining risk exposures arising from trading, lending and financing activities
  • reviewing financial statements, business models, positions, strategies and market or industry trends to identify key risk drivers
  • supporting credit assessments, model reviews, stress testing, scenario analysis and risk recommendations
  • working with business, trading, legal, operations and risk teams to understand transactions and provide independent review and challenge
  • helping enhance risk frameworks, policies, limits, reporting tools and regulatory or governance processes

During this twelve-month programme, you’ll be encouraged to examine problems from every angle, challenge the status quo and come up with new and innovative ways of progressing our business while being supported by an inclusive team.

As a graduate, you will:

  • Take part in an orientation to learn about Macquarie business groups, with your fellow analysts and expand your professional network.
  • Receive formal training, including financial modelling and presentation skills, but at its core the program provides practical on-the-job learning to further your career. If you have ideas that have merit, we’ll give you the opportunity to develop and test them to create new possibilities.
  • Build strong connections and work collaboratively while also partnering directly with our business leaders on meaningful and challenging work.
  • Receive support from your manager and aligned mentor as you gain genuine insight into our industry.
  • Be encouraged to give back through the Macquarie Group Foundation which provides support to hundreds of community organisations each year through financial support, volunteering and skills sharing.
