Mizuho International plc (MHI) is the London based securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group, Inc., and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. With a primary focus on client based activities, its wide range of services includes sales and trading in both debt and equity securities, the underwriting of new issues and M&A advisory services.
Equity Capital Markets
Within Equity Capital Markets, Mizuho International structures and markets various equity and equity-linked primary products and services for Japanese and non-Japanese corporate clients both directly and via the corporate finance and capital markets team at Mizuho Securities. The team also actively engages Mizuho Financial Group’s corporate and investment banking units to promote equity opportunities. The Equity Syndicate Team manages the marketing, distribution and allocation processes of primary market operations and is an active participant in convertible Bond transactions.
Mergers & Acquisitions
The Mergers and Acquisitions (‘M&A’) department provides a comprehensive M&A advisory service to Mizuho’s clients, including origination, structuring, valuation, due diligence and negotiation. Based in London, the team has frequent contact with companies throughout the world in M&A transactions which span the global operations of multinational clients. It focuses on cross-border M&A deals mainly related to Japanese companies, i.e. outbound deals where a Japanese company wishes to acquire a non-Japanese company, or inbound deals where a non-Japanese company wishes to acquire a Japanese company. The team works closely with many sections of the Mizuho Financial Group globally, notably M&A bankers and client relationship bankers. It has an unrivalled list of Japanese corporate clients, supported by a banking relationship with a majority of the listed companies in Japan.
Strategic Capital Solutions and Advisory Group (SCSAG)
The Strategic Capital Solutions and Advisory Group provides innovative, holistic and integrated investment banking solutions to our clients, and specifically supports our clients to raise funds from private markets. By leveraging Mizuho’s global platform, the SCSAG assists our clients in raising third party capital for global players to release equity. The group is a cross entity and cross regional team with expertise across multiple sectors and a mandate to support end to end client delivery, ranging from asset identification and financial advisory to optimal distribution and deal execution.
About you
To join our team, you must have a passion for financial services and preferably have demonstrated this via your chosen field of study. We also accept applications from candidates with strong academics in any degree discipline who can demonstrate an aptitude for financial services. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate our core values of winning spirit, inspiring trust and diversity of thought.
Our interns will gain experience in mainly ECM over a 10 week period with a view to being offered a position on the Mizuho 2023 Graduate Programme, commencing September 2023.
Applicants to the Mizuho 2022 Intern Programme will ideally be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study and be available for permanent employment from September 2023. (Please note we have now filled all places on our Mizuho 2022 Graduate programme).
