Bring people together to deliver change.
On our 2-year Project Management Graduate Scheme, you'll learn how to turn plans into action across the rail industry. Working with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, you'll help deliver projects, support people through change and develop the skills needed to move work forward in a complex and evolving environment.
If making an impact matters to you. You matter to us.
What you’ll be doing
Take the opportunity to develop project management skills while gaining experience across infrastructure and business change projects. You'll also spend time on railway sites, gaining valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities of delivering work in a live operational environment.
You'll contribute to meaningful projects while building the skills, knowledge and experience needed for a successful career in project management. During your placements, you could be:
· Supporting the delivery of infrastructure and change projects across the rail industry
· Building relationships with stakeholders and helping to align different priorities and objectives
· Using data to monitor progress, identify issues and support decision-making
You'll also develop an understanding of supplier management and the rail supply chain while learning how to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
Who you are matters
You'll need a minimum of a 2:2 degree in any subject and the flexibility to travel within your region for training and work activities, including occasional overnight stays.
How you work with people and respond to challenges matters to us. You may have developed relevant skills through a part-time job, volunteering or team sport. We'll teach you the project management skills you need, but demonstrating the right behaviours is crucial to succeeding on the scheme. Other qualities we're looking for include:
· Taking ownership and following through on commitments
· Building relationships, working collaboratively and valuing different perspectives
· Communicating confidently, sharing ideas and raising concerns constructively
· Seeking feedback and taking responsibility for your own development
· Using data and information to help solve problems and make decisions
We'll support you as you learn, and you'll be expected to contribute actively to your development and the work of your team.
What you’ll get out of it
Over 2 years, you'll build your understanding of the railway through placements, development activities and practical project experience. You'll also study towards the Association for Project Management's Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ).
You'll develop the skills and judgement needed to work with stakeholders, influence decisions and engage with suppliers across the rail industry. Previous graduates have progressed into roles including Project Management Assistant, Project Leader, Scheme Project Manager and Associate Sponsor, providing a strong foundation for a long-term career in project delivery and change management.
