We are looking to recruit a policy project intern to join our passionate and dedicated policy and knowledge team on a fixed term basis until March 2027.
This exciting role provides the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the policy landscape and the business environment, making it well-suited for someone seeking their first role in policy.
The position offers valuable experience in engaging with businesses of all sizes, key stakeholders and young people in the region.
There will be an opportunity to contrubite to the work of the Policy Team on a special project linked to the regional Get Britain Working Trailblazer.

What youll be doing
Responsibilities for the successful candidate include:
- Supporting the Chambers policy team to deliver a specific project engaging with employers, stakeholder organisations and young people in the region.
- Assisting in the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
- Organising and supporting the work of our different policy events to engage employers and young people.
- Providing briefings where required to support the wider policy team.
- Advising on policy positions to support engagement with the British Chambers of Commerce and key stakeholders.
- Providing regular updates for members via the Chambers website, publications and social media.
- Producing briefings for members to inform them of important policy developments and the Chambers position on these issues.
- Ability to work with teams across the Chamber as required to engage with members.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Math and English.
- Relevant degree or equivalent e.g., of a political/business/economics/journalism interest or equivalent voluntary experience.
Skills and experience
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex information.
- Ability to create, maintain and promote good working relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload to achieve agreed deadline and targets.
- Comfortable working independently and as a team.
- Interest in current affairs.
- IT skills including knowledge of MS Office applications.
Other requirements
- Some travel needed across the North East but do not need access to a car.
- A sense of drive, enthusiasm, hard working and reliable.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, and locations across the region.
