About the role
This exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and FLOX offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of next-generation precision livestock intelligence for the poultry sector. The Associate will act as the vital link between academia and industry, applying advanced data science, machine learning and AI techniques to transform large-scale poultry data into actionable insights that improve animal health, welfare, growth, nutrition and farm performance.
The KTP associate will work on a structured Knowledge Transfer Partnership project (KTP) based at FLOX, supported by the academic team at NTU and key personnel inside FLOX.
- The Associate will lead a high-profile innovation project involving computer vision, IoT sensing, environmental monitoring and operational farm data.
- They will investigate relationships between bird behaviour, health, welfare, growth and nutrition.
- They will develop and validate predictive and early-warning models.
- They will build robust data pipelines.
- They will support the deployment of production-ready intelligence into customer-facing products and decision-support systems.
- The role also includes stakeholder engagement with farmers, poultry specialists, engineers and researchers, alongside knowledge transfer activities that embed data science capability within FLOX and contribute to wider dissemination, publications and commercial innovation.
The role will be primarily located in FLOX’ London office but require travel between NTU and FLOX on a regular basis.

This position forms part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded jointly by Innovate UK and FLOX Limited. As a KTP Associate you will work within FLOX Ltd to develop and embed knowledge, with research and academic support from NTU. This KTP offers the ideal opportunity to apply your degree through real work and springboard your career. It includes a £4k training budget and 10% of your time dedicated to your own personal development.
