Populous Consulting is the business consulting arm of the global design firm, Populous. It acts as a specialist venue consultancy, working in partnership with the Populous design team, to optimise revenue generation in sports and entertainment venues.

Populous Consulting challenges the traditional model of venue feasibility and business planning, by combining customer insight and business analysis with design. The objective is to create venues that are optimised for both customer experience and revenue generation. We believe that optimal stadium design is achieved when designers, operators and commercial advisors are part of the process from the beginning of the project. 

The partnership between Populous and Populous Consulting ensures that architectural design services are fully integrated and aligned with the optimal commercial strategies, to maximise revenue generation opportunities and ensure financial viability of our projects.

Key personnel from Populous Consulting have been involved in the design, commercialisation, sales and operation of major international sports events and venues globally. 

Key responsibilities

As an Intern with Populous Consulting, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of venue business planning. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conducting thorough research on current industry trends, competitor analysis, and market demands to help identify opportunities and challenges for our clients' projects.
  • Financial Modelling: Assisting in the preparation of financial models and projections to evaluate the viability and profitability of different venue strategies.
  • Client Support: Collaborating with consultants to provide support in client meetings, workshops, and presentations, contributing valuable insights to enhance project outcomes.
  • Data Management: Organizing and maintaining databases related to venue data, market statistics, and financial information for easy access and reference.
  • Report Preparation: Assisting in the creation of comprehensive reports and presentations that highlight findings and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.

Skills required

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated individual who is enthusiastic about the sports and entertainment industry and is eager to learn. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • Passion for Sports and Entertainment: A genuine interest in the sports and entertainment industry, with knowledge of current trends and developments.
  • Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of financial concepts and proficiency in using tools like Microsoft Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and insights to team members and clients.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being proactive in individual tasks.
