Are you looking to build a career in housing compliance, building safety or asset management?

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Housing Asset Team, supporting the delivery of statutory compliance services that help keep residents safe and ensure our homes meet legal and regulatory requirements. You will provide technical and administrative support across gas, electrical and other building safety workstreams, helping to coordinate inspections, servicing programmes, remedial works and access arrangements.

You will maintain compliance records, review certification, monitor contractor performance, support site visits and audits, and help analyse and report on compliance data. Working closely with contractors, residents and colleagues, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our compliance services.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual with an interest in property, housing, construction, building safety or compliance. You will hold a degree, equivalent qualification, or have significant relevant experience in a related field. Applications are welcome from recent graduates, early-career professionals and candidates with transferable skills and experience.

You will have an understanding of building safety, compliance or property-related services, along with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills. Experience of monitoring contractors, coordinating works, maintaining records or producing reports would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits are essential.

Join us to make a positive impact in our community by putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do, while living our values of trust, care, collaboration, confidence and customer focus.

We are changing

St Albans City and District Council is undergoing Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). If you are employed by St Albans City and District Council on 1 April 2028, it is expected that the majority of roles will transfer to the newly-created unitary councils on existing terms and conditions under TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings – Protection of Employment) principles.

LGR is one of the biggest changes we will face in a generation. It will reshape how we work and how services are organised and gives us a real opportunity to build something better. We hope you will be part of that journey with us.
