We are seeking talented graduates to join our growing Building Structures team in Glasgow. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to the design and delivery of renewables infrastructure alongside work across transportation, flood protection, residential, public sector and commercial development projects that contribute to and support the strategic growth within the various markets we operate.
Purpose & scope of the role
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of structural engineering solutions across a diverse range of multidisciplinary projects, working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists. You will contribute through concept, tender, detailed design and construction stages, building your technical knowledge and practical experience throughout the project lifecycle.
Your work may include the design and analysis of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures, as well as foundations and other structural elements. You will gain experience across projects within the Energy sector, particularly renewable energy infrastructure, alongside residential, public sector and commercial developments.
You will assist with structural calculations, analysis, drawings, specifications and technical documentation, while developing your understanding of design standards, material selection, buildability and value engineering. You will also gain experience using structural design and analysis software and applying engineering principles to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
Working closely with colleagues across civil, geotechnical, environmental and other engineering disciplines, you will gain valuable experience of delivering integrated multidisciplinary projects. Throughout your development, you will learn to apply HSQE principles, identify and manage design risks, and understand how structural solutions are designed and delivered safely, efficiently and sustainably.

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality structural solutions across a varied portfolio of projects.
Initially, your focus will be on developing strong technical foundations, applying the knowledge gained through your studies to real-world projects and learning from experienced engineers across the business. You will be encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas and develop innovative solutions while taking increasing ownership of your work as your skills and confidence grow.
Over time, you will take on greater responsibility for structural design and analysis, project delivery and collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Through Tetra Tech’s two-year Graduate Scheme, expert mentorship and a tailored development plan, you will be supported in building the technical and professional competencies needed to progress your career as a Structural Engineer.

Your Pathway: You’ll be assigned a location, cost centre, line manager, and a ‘home’ technical discipline based on your qualifications and business needs. If you wish to explore a different discipline at the end of the programme, we’ll consider this based on your interests and business requirements.

Choose from a range of topics- including Managing Change, Leading in a Digital Age, Conflict Resolution, Project Management, and Data-Driven Decision Making - to build your leadership and management skills.

Each program consists of three concise modules (totalling 85-135 minutes), scheduled in your second year. Complete activity sheets to demonstrate your learning and earn your Foundation Chartered Manager certification.
Qualifications
Must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a relevant degree in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
Working environment
Initially, you will be based full-time in our Glasgow office during your probation period to support your onboarding, development and mentoring. Following successful completion of your probation, the role will move to a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation of three days per week in the office to support ongoing collaboration and team coordination.
