The A Side: A Day in The Life

Virgin Music Label and Artist Services – International is a globally integrated network of label management, marketing and promotional teams providing commercial, distribution, marketing, promotional & admin services. Based in the UK but with teams in all major territories. We work alongside the Virgin Music US label to provide independent labels and UMG signed repertoire market benchmarked services.

We are looking to bring an intern into this team who can benefit from working within a small but energetic label/label services team. This role represents a fantastic opportunity to learn about the different functions in a label. It will ensure interaction with all areas including A&R, marketing, promotion and manufacturing.

The B Side: Skills & Experience

Be Organised

  • Managing weekly label newsletter communications to highlight key releases and share release schedule updates
  • New label and release set-up across various Virgin Music and UMG teams and systems
  • Scheduling and ‘opt-in’ digital & physical releases with the global production teams
  • Sourcing and correct delivery of label copy information
  • Sourcing music masters and ensuring correct delivery
  • Sourcing artwork and ensuring correct delivery
  • Arranging quantities, prices etc. for both promotional and commercial releases
  • Maintaining the artist assets Box with relevant and up to date assets for global access
  • Delivery of secure music to label partners and media
  • Drawing up agendas for label and territory calls
  • Ownership of catalogue and label database updates
  • Help accurately maintain the company’s digital, video and physical release schedule’s, comparing with label partners release schedules and adjusting accordingly
  • Weekly update of priorities and release changes to send to territories and partners
  • Sending stock on behalf of the team and partners (CD’s, Vinyls etc) to top up retail stock and for promotional activities
  • Update mailing lists and be the main point of contact for MPE on behalf of the international team
  • Attend and manage meetings with territories and partners, updating attendees with agenda points each week. Help the team maintain their diaries
  • Assist in pulling reports from Chartmetric, Radiomonitor, UMG Consumption on behalf of the international team
  • Assisting in other daily tasks with the team, help solve queries and issues when brought up 

Be Collaborative

  • Supporting the artist and label team in organising media for our clients
  • Supporting the artist and label team in creating, delivering and organising marketing assets
  • Supporting the team in creation and delivery of artist promotional and travel schedules, including booking travel

  • Meticulous and tenacious about delivering the right results
  • Previous experience of working within fixed processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work round issues
  • Passionate about music
  • Experience of working in an office environment
