Securing a Training Contract with Linklaters - Top tips from Elena, a Trainee Solicitor

Created on 31 Jul 2017

After completing a Spring Vacation scheme at LInklaters, Elena has gone on to secure a Training Contract with the firm. Elena kindly spared her time to have a chat with us about her new role.

Why did you choose this firm and this role?

Other than the firm’s excellent reputation, Linklaters’ culture was what truly set it apart from its competitors for me. Whilst completing the Spring Vacation Scheme, I got a real chance to understand what Linklaters and its employees are all about. Following the Vacation Scheme, it was clear to me that I loved the firm and I was more than happy to accept their Training Contract offer.

What was the toughest part of the application process and what was your favourite part?

I found that selling myself in the application form was definitely the hardest part of the application process. On the other hand, my favourite part of the process was, without a doubt, the HR interview.

Were you surprised by anything in the process?

I didn’t find anything too surprising throughout the application process – perhaps just the length of the interview day!

What top tip would you give your fellow Bright Network members?

Try, try and try again! As a general rule, it goes pretty much like this: rejection, rejection and success!

What's your lucky charm or pre-interview ritual?

Make sure you have a good nights sleep the night before your interview!
