Rodas' success story: Securing a graduate role at PwC

Created on 30 Oct 2025
Rodas has a BSc in Business Management and a MSc in Investment & Finance from Queen Mary, University of London. He secured a role as a Deals Graduate M&A at PwC in London, through Bright Network.

First, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

"I've always loved maths and problem solving, but I was equally curious about where I could apply those skills in a real-world context. My curiosity led me to study business at university, where I explored how analytical thinking could be used to solve commercial and strategic problems.

As I learned more, I became particularly drawn to finance: an area that combined my quantitative strengths with my interest in understanding how businesses grow.

This led me to specialise in finance through my MSc in Investment and Finance."

What motivated you to apply for your role?

"I was motivated to apply for my role because I wanted to be part of a firm known for its breadth of expertise, collaborative culture, and focus on creating real value for clients.

PwC stood out to me for its strong reputation in deal advisory and the opportunity to work on high-impact, complex transactions across a range of industries.

I was particularly drawn to M&A because it combines analytical rigour with strategic thinking and teamwork, offering the chance to contribute to projects that shape the future of businesses. The fast-paced nature of the work, learning opportunities, and exposure to senior decision-makers all aligned perfectly with my ambitions!"

What was the application process like?

"The process was competitive and rigorous, but also incredibly rewarding. It involved several stages, from completing the online application and assessments to attending interviews and an assessment centre. Each stage tested different skills, from analytical thinking and commercial awareness to communication and teamwork.

What I found most challenging was staying consistent and motivated after facing initial rejections. It can be easy to lose confidence along the way!

However, each experience helped me improve my interview technique and better understand what employers were looking for. Taking the time to review my performance after each stage made a huge difference in building confidence and ultimately securing my offer."

How did Bright Network help you secure your role?

"It was actually these success stories from other students which gave me a clearer understanding of what top employers look for!

I also found the tailored career advice and events incredibly useful in developing commercial awareness and preparing for interviews."

What have you learnt from going through the process?

"Going through the process taught me the importance of preparation, self-awareness, and resilience. I learnt that success isn't just about having the right answers, but about communicating confidently and showing genuine interest in the firm.

What surprised me most was how much reflection helped me understand my motivations and being able to clearly articulate them made a real difference. I also realised how valuable it is to focus on authenticity rather than trying to fit a certain mould, as that's ultimately what helps you stand out."

What are your tips for people looking to follow in your footsteps?

"My biggest tip is to stay consistent, resilient, and curious. Take time to reflect on feedback, refine your approach and keep developing your commercial awareness as it really sets you apart.

If I could do anything differently, I would have started networking and attending career events earlier, as speaking directly with professionals gave me valuable insights into the industry. The best advice I received was to focus on progress, not perfection, and to view each stage as a step forward."
