Meet Kasha | Senior Compliance Analyst

Kasha's journey from working-class Glasgow to the bustling city of Melbourne is a testament to the power of resilience and determination.

💬 “Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland, I hail from a working-class family. My parents had a limited education with only my mum receiving a secondary school education and my dad leaving school at 13 to start working. My mum, despite a debilitating spinal condition, was a beacon of resilience, instilling in me the belief that no barrier is too high to overcome.

💬 Together they shielded me and my sister from the harsh realities of social classism, ensuring we never felt different from our more privileged friends. They worked hard to provide for us and were pillars of strength.

🍔 I attended a local school, balancing my studies with caring for my mother and working part-time at McDonald’s. A career in law was not always my plan, but a work experience stint and a fondness for the movie ‘Legally Blonde’ (it was the noughties!) sparked my interest.

👩‍🎓 Applying for university was daunting, as I was the first in my family to tread this path. Initially, I chose International Business with Spanish, but soon realised that my true calling was law, so courageously switched paths.

After six years, I graduated amidst a pandemic. I decided to take a break, continuing my role at McDonald’s where I had worked my way up to an Assistant Business Manager. However, the desire for a new challenge led me to join Pinsent Masons, Glasgow as a Compliance Analyst in 2022.

Today, I am a Senior Compliance Analyst in Melbourne on an extended secondment, a dream I never thought possible growing up in a working-class household. This journey has taught me the power of resilience, determination, and the courage to follow one’s instincts. It’s a testament to the fact that your background does not define your future, and with hard work and perseverance, you can achieve your dreams.”
