Interested in joining Saffery and want to learn more about their application process? Find out more about their application and assessment process, alongside some key hints and tips below!
The application process has been designed to help Saffery understand more about you and your potential. Throughout, they’ll explore whether you’re a good fit for each other. Just as they’re getting to know you, it’s equally important that you feel a sense of belonging and alignment with Saffery.
The application process consists of five stages:
- Online application form
- Online assessments
- Early Careers interview
- Interview day
- Your offer and onboarding

Please don’t feel intimidated by the process. While it might seem rigorous and a bit daunting at first, you’ll meet friendly people along the way, and the preparation you do should help you feel more confident and ready to succeed.
Stage 1: Online Application Form
Once you have found the right role for you, the first stage is to complete an online application form. This is an opportunity to gather basic information and to confirm your eligibility for the role you’re applying to. Further details on Saffery’s eligibility criteria can be found on each job advert. You will also have the opportunity to share your passion and interest in joining Saffery, the team, role and knowledge of the qualification. You will also be asked to share a copy of your CV. The application form typically takes up to 20 minutes to complete.
Stage 2: Online Assessments
What to expect
The G+ tests compromises of two key parts:
- The General Ability test.
- A Job Focused Assessment which identifies competencies.
It typically takes around 1 hour to complete the tests. It’s important that you allow yourself plenty of time, in a quiet and comfortable environment where there are unlikely to be any distractions. As the test is timed, you should focus on working with accuracy and speed.
Preparation
We recommend getting familiar with psychometric tests ahead of time. There are plenty of free practice tests available online, and the team will also share some with you before you take the real ones, all to help you feel confident and perform at your best!

Stage 3: Early Careers interview
What to expect
The Early Careers interview consists of a 30-minute video call via Microsoft Teams with a member of the Early Careers team. It’ll focus on motivational and competency based questions.
What to wear
The Early Careers team are a casual and easy-going team, so please feel free to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. There’s no expectation for formal attire at this stage of the recruitment process but if dressing more formally helps you feel your best, you’re welcome to do so.
Preparation
- Ensure you have access to Microsoft Teams.
- The below Microsoft Support guide has plenty of information to support if you are unfamiliar with Microsoft Teams.
- Meetings in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support
- Don’t forget to test your webcam and microphone.
- If you’re planning on using an external webcam or headphones/headset during your interview, be sure to test these also.
- Ensure you have sufficient battery on your device (laptop, tablet, phone etc) or have access to a power socket if needed.
- Ensure that you’re in a quiet, distraction free environment.
- We want to ensure that you’re able to speak openly and freely. Sitting somewhere where you feel comfortable will help you feel most relaxed. Where possible, avoid sitting behind a window as this can make it difficult for the camera to focus on you.
- Choose somewhere which has strong internet connection.
Stage 4: Interview Day
What to expect
The Interview Day will be in-person and consist of two formal assessments; the case study and Senior Leadership interview. This will typically last half a day.
You will also have the opportunity to learn more about Saffery, the team and clients. It’s a great way to learn more about the local office offering.
What to wear
We recommend wearing smart attire, though a full suit isn’t necessary unless you’d like to wear one.
Preparation
Case study task
- While we can’t share too many details in advance, the case study will involve analysing financial and non-financial information and making recommendations based on your findings.
- Don’t worry, you won’t need any prior accounting knowledge. However, having a general understanding of how businesses operate within the economy, or an interest in this area, will be helpful.
Stage 5: Your Offer and Onboarding
A member of the Early Careers team will contact you with feedback following your final interview. If you are successful, you will receive a formal offer to join the firm!
